I would take the front cover off. There aren't any dowels in that cover. I didn't have to use a speedy sleeve to stop the leak from grooves cut by the old seal on the crank. D15 II oil capacity/checking. I have spent some time in the ops manual and on line on how to correctly check the oil level on the D 15 II. The book says capacity is 4 quarts for the series II. So when you shut it down the filter is full but immediately starts to drain back into the crankcase and thusly the level starts rising on the dipstick.
